  • The costs can be quickly recovered by the energy savings, whilst you enjoy a warmer, quieter home.
  • Poor draught proofed windows cost Britain more than £200 million every year: enough to heat 250,000 homes.
  • Your home can look attractive with historical and elegant windows, whilst incorporating modern techniques to maintain efficient heat retention.

How draughts are eliminated

One of our experienced joiners will visit your property and conduct a free, initial survey; from this we can ascertain the condition of your windows.

The sash window is dismantled and the pulleys checked, cleaned and lubricated. all the sash cords are replaced and The sashes are weighed and the correct counter-balances are set.

Any paint on areas that obstruct the movement of the window is removed and the parting beads and staff beads are renewed with a draught inlaid carrier bead; the sashes are then re-fitted in correct alignment with the beading.

All the exposed timber is painted with a white primer, making good to finish. The sashes and pulleys are waxed and checked for operation.

Advantages of our method

If any repairs or replacements are needed, the material that most closely resembles the original in look and texture will be used. Modern pine is not used on these traditional windows, as other timbers both look better and last longer.

Our method can be applied to doors, casement windows, and sash windows.

We use new English waxed cotton sash cord with a strong synthetic core to prevent snapping. Cheap inferior Indian cord is not used.

Best pitch pine parting bead for durability is used, not modern pine.
